Visiting and browsing

Note that the identification of Kostol with Transdrobeta is by no means certain, nor is the alternative name Pontes (which may easily have been Pons, and arguments around the number of Trajanic bridges – one or two – hang on such matters). There are excavated remains to be seen at Kostol, namely parts of the defences and the headquarters building.

The fortification at the southern end of Trajan's Danube bridge at Kostol has an informative English-language web page where Transdrobeta is equated with the earlier site of Pontes.
